After teasing on socials (and keeping us well and truly on our toes), Finn Foxell returned to 2022 last week with newest single 'Be Me'. The West London rapper introduced us to his new sound, exploring uncharted territory and bringing listeners an exciting UK hiphop and indie pop hybrid.
After releasing his 'Alright Sunshine' EP towards the end of 2021, we heard Foxell tackle funky, jazz inspired beats layered with meaningful mantras and his slick cadence. It was clear then that a sonic evolution was taking place. And after testing some forthcoming indie-infused material at gigs last year, it seems it was finally time to bring this new sound to the masses.
'Be Me' is a relatable, coming of age track where Foxell touches on the freedom of adulthood, the beauty of individuality and the epiphany: 'then I realised that I could be me' . He tells his story above a bedroom pop-esque beat with a catchy guitar riff, reminicent of Gus Dapperton and Still Woozy's catalogues.
'Be Me' feels like a big step for the London rapper as he showcases his talents as a multifaceted artist, seemingly bringing big things to the alternative UK rap scene in 2022.
